After three days of being home sick, two of them without heat, I felt well enough to go out yesterday. We took Benjamin to see the Holiday Train show at the
New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. When we got there at 12:00, it turned out that they sell timed tickets to the show in 15-minute intervals (which we knew) and there were no tickets available until 3:45 (which we did not expect). So we decided to take in the rest of the gardens while we were waiting for our time to come up, and had a lot of fun, since it was a fairly pleasant day for late December, peaking around 48 degrees. We took Benjamin to the children's garden, where there were activities set up with a gingerbread house theme. The boo was not too interested in the activities, but he really got a kick out of the kid-sized gingerbread house, and we got some good
pictures of the whole day. The train show was quite neat, actually, especially all of the various NY buildings and bridges recreated in bark and twigs that served as the backdrop for the trains. If you have kids, and are in the NYC area, I highly recommend it, and I also recommend buying your tickets in advance, which we did not do.
