The 'President' has signed into law S. 2488: OPEN Government Act of 2007, introduced by Pat Leahy

This law seems to be a Good Thing(tm) and very interestingly makes a point of defining "news media" with an eye toward freelance, independent, and online journalists.  also puts some more backbone into FOIA, and requires strict timelines for responding to FOIA requests.

They might actually be doing some work in Washington.  Who knew?
